Further Info

We have created two exciting routes for you to choose from. You can chose to complete the 50 mile route, or the 100 mile route for those that really want to challenge themselves!

Both routes will start and finish in Richmond and will travel though Twickenham, Windsor, and Weybridge. Those opting for the 100 mile route will also travel through Marlow, Henley-on-Thames and Ascot.

No previous experience is required however preparation for this event is highly recommended, and with a bit of training completing this event should easily be within your capabilities. The spirit of the event is 'taking part' not 'winning' so you go as fast or as slow as you like!

All you need to do is pledge to raise £50 for the 50 mile route or £100 for the 100 mile route for your charity.

When and where

The 2010 DoitforCharity Cycle Ride will take place in the Home Counties on Sunday 20th June 2010

How fit do I need to be?

Hundreds of thousands of people take part in charity cycle rides every year - many of them for the first time. It's therefore perfectly achievable for the 'average' person to take part in this event but in order to maximise your enjoyment you DO need to train - and that means more than just a cycle ride your local park! However, help is at hand in the form of the www.doitforcharity.com fitness pages where we give you a sample training plan – your charity will also be able to give you help and support.

What kit will I need?

Taking part in a charity bike ride that involves over 50 miles of cycling means that it's not only you that has to be in good shape, the bicycle you ride does too! As well as your bike it is essential you have a helmet and a pair of gloves.

How can I raise the sponsorship money?

Most charities will ask you to raise a minimum of £50 for the 50 mile route and £100 for the 100 mile route to take part in the Doitforcharity Cycle Ride - the reason for this is that places are extremely limited and the charities obviously want maximum benefit from the places they have been allocated.

However, you shouldn't find it difficult to raise this money - after all you don't cycle 50+ miles every day do you?! One top tip is to ask employers to match everything you raise pound for pound. You can create your own personal fundraising page on www.doitforcharity.com/give where people can simply donate on-line. Once again more advice is available is on www.doitforcharity.com on the fundraising advice pages and your charity should be able to help out as well.

What do I do next?

Simpy book online!

As long as you commit to raising the minimum sponsorship your charity will be delighted to have you cycling on their behalf!

Location: Old Deer Park

Registration Fee: £25

Sponsorship Level: £50 for 50 mile route or £100 for 100 mile route
